The Last Place Without Mastercard
Creative idea
Insight: When you travel, almost everything changes from place to place: the language, the food, the streets, the culture. But paying with Mastercard often doesn’t. It’s accepted in so many places around the world that the same card can take you from one completely different place to another without changing how you pay. Idea: We exaggerate just how widely Mastercard is accepted around the world. If it works in almost every country, city and travel moment, then we push that truth to an absurd extreme. How far would you have to go before Mastercard is no longer accepted? Solution: We show the Moon as the one place where Mastercard still doesn’t work. By taking the idea beyond Earth, we make the exaggeration visible in one simple image and show just how far Mastercard’s global acceptance reaches. Why it works: It turns a functional benefit into something you understand in a second. The exaggeration makes Mastercard’s global acceptance more memorable, while its wide acceptance and trusted payment system give travellers confidence that payment won’t get in the way. That means less hesitation abroad, fewer awkward payment moments, and more freedom to say yes to whatever comes next. How it can expand globally: The idea can stay the same everywhere, while the travel moments around it change by market. A night out in Ljubljana can become a late-night kebab in Warsaw, a market in Marrakech or a concert in Berlin. Wherever the campaign appears, it starts with something familiar and shows how easily Mastercard can take you somewhere else.
